Frequently Asked Questions about ESL 

Voorhees Township Public Schools’ English as a Second Language (ESL) program is currently aligned with the WIDA standards for K-12 students and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards (NJCCCS). The district's schools endeavor to ensure that all English Language Learners (ELLs) achieve English language competence needed for
academic success as well as personal, social growth and acculturation.
 
 
Entering and Beginning 
ESL students will begin by learning the vocabulary related to the classroom and home environments.  We accomplish this through role playing activities, tours around the school, and literature.
 
Developing 
ESL students move from physical activities that surround social language to the more academic language of the classroom.
 
Expanding and Bridging
ESL students are supported in the ESL class to meet the educational demands of their mainstream classroom.
